I can see you years from now, eyes sparkling, glinting from a sea of wrinkles, handing out lollipops that resemble red balloons to children young and old…and nobody can quite place why they feel a need to babble or do something insanely normal later that day.

I don’t think cranky would work from you. I mean, I’ve seen you in rotten moods where crankiness was certainly an option, but it always felt like an aberration. I can’t imagine it as a going concern.

But the tall, gaunt, impeccably-dressed old man with the silkly voice that makes the hair on the back of your neck stand up even in August — yeah, that works.
